Axygen MaxyGene II Thermal Cycler
Overview
The Axygen MaxyGene II is a benchtop PCR thermal cycler built around a 96-well block, replacing the original MaxyGene with faster runs and more flexible programming. Ramping rates reach 5 °C per second and the temperature range is 4 °C to 99 °C, covering standard PCR, restriction digests and enzyme inactivation steps.
The adjustable heated lid accommodates strips, tubes and microplates without an oil overlay, so plates and 0.2 mL tubes can both be run. Pre-programmed standard protocols give a starting point for routine assays, and the simple user interface keeps day-to-day programming quick. Corning lists the 230 V EU-plug version as THERM-1000, which suits Malaysian laboratory supply, and backs the instrument with a three-year warranty.
