Laboratory Plasticware

Laboratory plasticware is light and hard to break, which makes it a good choice for storage, sampling, transport and single-use work. CSI Labshop supplies plastic labware to research, QC, food, environmental, molecular biology and teaching laboratories across Malaysia.

Send us your list with item, size, material and quantity, and we will send a quotation.

How laboratories use plasticware

  • Sampling: Water, effluent and product samples travel back to the lab in leakproof plastic bottles that will not break.
  • Molecular biology uses single-use tips, tubes and PCR plates, such as Sorenson, to avoid contamination.
  • Large volumes: Purified water, buffers and waste are stored and dispensed in carboys.
  • Teaching labs use plastic beakers and cylinders, which are safer with students.

Types of laboratory plasticware

How to choose the right plastic

  • Polypropylene (PP): good chemical resistance and can be autoclaved; the usual choice for beakers, bottles and centrifuge tubes.
  • Polyethylene (LDPE and HDPE): tough and squeezable, for wash and dropping bottles and storage; most polyethylene items cannot be autoclaved.
  • Polycarbonate (PC) and PETG: clear like glass; PC is very strong, PETG suits single-use media bottles. Both are damaged by some solvents.
  • Fluoropolymers (FEP, PFA): for the most aggressive chemicals and trace-metal work.

If you are unsure, tell us the chemical, temperature and how the item will be cleaned, and we will check compatibility.

Frequently asked questions

Can plastic labware be autoclaved?

Polypropylene, PMP and fluoropolymer items can be autoclaved at 121 °C with caps loosened. Polyethylene and most polystyrene items cannot.

Are NALGENE lab bottles the same as NALGENE water bottles?

They come from the same brand name, but the laboratory range is made for chemicals and samples, in several plastics and sizes. We supply the laboratory range.

How much does lab plasticware cost in Malaysia?

The price depends on brand, material, size and quantity. Send us your list for a quotation.
