Stuart Colony Counter SC6PLUS
Overview
The Stuart SC6PLUS is a pressure-sensitive colony counter. The operator touches the petri dish over each colony with a felt-tip marker and the count registers on the digital display with an audible tone, which can be switched off. The pressure needed to register can be adjusted to suit different users, so a light touch does not double-count or miss colonies.
An averaging facility calculates the average count across several plates, and results — including statistics such as standard deviation — can be sent to the accessory printer or to a computer over the USB cable supplied. Sub-stage illumination uses bright, low-energy LEDs for glare-free viewing, and a switchable black background improves contrast for transparent or lightly coloured colonies. The housing carries BioCote antimicrobial protection.
