Overview
The 720, 721 and 722 are orbital shakers for growing micro-organisms and tissue cells. Orbital motion transfers oxygen to the culture while avoiding the buffeting that damages organisms and cells, which is why the orbit diameter is matched to the vessel and the organism being grown.
The three models offer 25, 38 or 70 mm circular orbits, selected for the flask size and aeration requirement. Speed is steplessly adjustable from 10 to 400 rpm with electronic control, and the drive is a triple eccentric design with dynamic balance for long life in continuous operation. Motors are brushless induction types, so there are no carbon brushes to replace, and an electronic slow-start prevents culture spillage when the shaker restarts after a power failure. Digital models add a microprocessor controller with opto-electronic feedback.
