Whatman Nytran N & Nytran SPC Nylon Membranes
Overview
Nytrans are Whatman nylon transfer membranes available in two formats. Nytran N carries a moderate charge and is intended for applications that need a lower charge, while Nytran SuPerCharge (SPC) has a very high positive charge thanks to a manufacturing process that increases the density of nylon per unit area.
Nytran N is used for Southern and Northern blotting, colony and plaque lifts, and dot or slot blots, and is compatible with both isotopic and non-isotopic detection. The membrane is cast uniformly on both sides of a support matrix, which gives symmetry and lets it lie flat without curling; uniform pore size and distribution support consistent results. It is offered in 0.2 µm and 0.45 µm pore sizes for retention of oligos and larger DNA fragments.
